Relationships
Relationships can be one of the greatest sources of joy in our lives. They can also be one of the greatest sources of pain.
Perhaps you find yourself having the same arguments over and over, feeling misunderstood by the people closest to you, or struggling to communicate what you really need. Maybe you avoid conflict at all costs, constantly put other people’s needs before your own, or worry that if you’re truly yourself, people will leave.
You might be seeking counselling as a couple, or you may be coming on your own because you’re noticing patterns that keep showing up across your relationships. Whatever brings you here, therapy can provide a space to better understand what’s happening and create healthier, more meaningful connections.
Understanding relationship patterns
We don’t build relationships in isolation. The experiences we’ve had throughout our lives shape what feels safe, familiar and expected in our relationships. Sometimes those patterns help us build close, secure connections. Other times we find ourselves repeating patterns that leave us feeling hurt, disconnected or stuck.
That doesn’t mean your past is to blame for every relationship difficulty, and I won’t make assumptions about what’s driving your experiences. Instead, we’ll become curious together.
We’ll explore the patterns that keep showing up, understand what purpose they’ve served, and decide whether they’re still helping you live the kind of life and relationships you want today.
How I work
I work with both individuals and couples experiencing relationship difficulties. Clients from all backgrounds, identities and relationship structures are welcome, however your identity doesn’t need to be the focus of therapy unless you want it to be.
Whether we’re exploring challenges with a partner, family member, friend or colleague, my role isn’t to decide who’s right or wrong. It’s to help you better understand yourself, each other, and the patterns that may be getting in the way of the relationship you want.
Together, we’ll explore areas such as communication, boundaries, conflict, trust, attachment, emotional regulation and the different ways people experience and express connection. Sometimes we discover that anxiety, neurodivergence or earlier life experiences are influencing current relationships. Sometimes we don’t. Rather than assuming the answer, we’ll discover it together.
Like all of my work, relationship counselling is collaborative. Some sessions may focus on practical communication skills or resolving a current conflict. Others may explore deeper patterns that have developed over time. We’ll work together to find the approach that feels most helpful for you and your relationships.
Because when you understand yourself differently, you’re often able to respond to others differently too.
